Types of Quoins

- Return Quoin: A stone return quoin is a standard type of quoin stone, often manufactured to fit with standard brick sizes. A stone return quoin is constructed into the wall corner and laid out with alternative courses taking the long leg of a quoin exhibiting on one face, followed on the next course by the quoin’s short leg displaying on the same face.
- Cladding Quoin: After constructing the cladding quoins, they are attached to the wall. If the intention is to apply rendering to the wall, the cladding quoins are integrated with the wall before the commencement of the rendering process.
- Reveal Quoin: Generally, cast stone reveal quoins are constructed into the wall as a standard block and are typically used for window and door reveals to add extra features. The sizes of these items generally harmonise with brick sizes.
